Dozens of labels scouting for new talent during Dancefair
On the 11 and 12th of February, more than 40 labels will be present in the Jaarbeurs, Utrecht to listen to the productions of Dancefair visitors. Dancefair is the electronic music event for amateurs, semi/pro’s and professionals in the music business. More than 50 renowned dj’s, producers, labels, event organisers, agencies and engineers will share their knowledge in 140 seminars and there will be an expofloor of 2000m2 with the newest developments in producer and DJ gear.
Education and feedback
On the expofloor and during several seminars famous, artists will share their knowledge
with visitors. They will also answer questions and scout for new talent. A unique chance for lesser known producers to have their music heard and to receive instant feedback on their productions. The “Demo Feedback Lounge” is an area created specially for bringing together labels and producers in one room.
Scouting new talent
Judging from the information coming from the Dancefair focusgroups, it seems there is
a lot of need for feedback on the music made by amateurs as well as on musc made by
professionals. They want to know what ‘collegues’ and especially labels think of their tracks. Concerning that last group: sending a demo via post or email seldom gets a response. Usually it’s very dissapointing as you still don’t know if you are on the right path. Norman Soares (founder Dancefair): “This is one of the reasons I wanted to organise Dancefair and set the bar high”. Dancefair was highly surprised by all the positive reactions from labels in participating for the label feedback lounge and thus taking their time to listen to demos. Dancefair was also surprised by the enthousiasm of renowned DJs who want to share their knowledge with collegues that want to make their musical dreams happen.
Getting feedback, learning and becoming even better
"This could give false hopes to visitors." is an opinion Norman Soares stronly disagrees
with: “Producers with less experience aren’t crazy and aren’t naive. They won’t be expecting to walk out of Dancefair with a great deal in the pocket. Of course they hope, but they just want to be heard and get feedback on their tracks. And that’s exactly what it’s all about during Dancefair.”
