Last year we were heavily impressed by ‘MOH - The Voice of Mayhem’. So we decided we had to visit ‘Statement of Disorder’ as well to see if it would exceed all our expectations again. We arrived at 22:30 at the Brabant Hallen. After parking we found entrance B quickly at the right side of the building. The staff was friendly and after receiving our press-bracelets we could enter. The male security-employee was so polite he even asked our female companion if she allowed him to frisk her. This guy is an example of how to treat your guests with respect. We walked on, got ourselves a locker and found our friends who were already there for an hour.
As we walked into the ‘Courtyard’, the Main Stage, we were overwhelmed by the looks of it. This time no big Masters scull above the stage, but right above you when you enter the hall. The main stage looked like a big round cellblock. The dj’s were positioned in the master control room (DJ booth) centered in front of the cellblock protected with barbwire fences. For the time they were given, they had to keep us, the other inmates, in control and the only way to do that was by playing massive hardcore all night long. It’s a dirty job but someone has to do it.

Above the stage 2 rounded rails were hung to which all the lights were attached as well as 4 massive led panels for projections.
While we entered the courtyard, Nitrogenetics were just finishing off their set with “Shut up and die”. We decided to take a look at the Psychward. This oldest and most primitive wing hides the hardest of all prisoners. Here the mentally insane were kept away from society. Locked in a steel barred cube, safe from the public the DJ’s played their most aggressive tracks. Guard towers on both sides of the hall should ensure some safety. The prisoners selected when we entered were Meccano Twins. These Italian dj’s (Alter ego: Art of Fighters) know how to fire up the crowd with raw tracks like “Different breed of Men”, “Hardcore Machine”, “Beat is pumpin’”, “Noisemaker” and “The Switch”. A diverse set with up-tempo tracks mixed in an even higher tempo.
After Meccano Twins we rushed back to the Courtyard for Ophidian. This gifted producer and dj did what he does best, playing rough, on the edge tracks. No happy tunes, but fast and industrial sounding melodies and beats. We still like “So many Sacrifices”, “Forgotten Moments”, “Abandon”, “None to give” and “Industrial Cooking Spray”. A wide variation of tracks to keep the crowd going. Though we only saw half an hour, we were swept away. After Ophidian it was time for Noize Suppressor with their “Sonar” live performance. A friend tipped us and told us we should not miss this live show. So with great expectations we watched and listened. Supported by a magnificent light and lasershow Noize Suppressor rocked the hall. They played all their recent hits “Bassdrum Bitch”, “Nobody Likes”, “Live it or lie it” and some from the past like “Fingherz” and “Fire”. On both sides of the hall Art of Dance had made some VIP-decks from which you have better sight over the crowd and stage. The whole courtyard was filled and everybody seemed to be having a great time. It was just an enormous waving mass with their hands in the air, girls sitting on their boyfriends neck to get a better view and people waving their shirts, scarves and flags. Noize Suppressor is loved here in The Netherlands. And damn, 30 minutes can go fast when you're having a good time. Before we knew it the next two dj’s made their appearance. An introduction film with the dj’s running through catacombs in their orange prison overalls trying to escape, showed the organization paid attention to all details to make this evening a success.
MOH
Amnesys and DJ Mad Dog fired the place up with many mainstream tracks. Also the older well known tracks like “Detonate”, “Ctrl D Future” and “Refly” as the new tracks like “Night of Madness”, “Game over” and “Nothing else matters” (from Mad Dogs new album) made the crowd jump. Especially “Nothing else matters” with its break, brought us goosebumps.
After these Italian maniacs we were ready for some more devious sounds. Drokz and Day-mar were more than suited to provide us with their heavy tracks full of breakbeats and acoustic percussion. After an unknown track full of Eminem-raps we were treated with “Screwdriver”, “Sloop die Speakers” and “Big Noise”. Even though the music is more up-tempo and somewhat aggressive compared to the tracks played in the other halls the crowd in the industrial/terror rooms are always nice, happy and smiling.
Because of the heat in several areas and continuous dancing we had to drink a lot. And who drinks a lot has to go to the toilet a lot. Though the toilets were free to use, they were also quite expensive while surprisingly sponsored by Villeroy and Boch (we noticed), or just coincidence?.
The clock almost hit 3 o’clock and we still hadn’t seen most of the ‘prison’-complex. Before we decided to have a look at Deathrow and Isolation we went back to the courtyard for two of the most wanted dj’s of the present time. Outblast and Angerfist teamed up and had prepared a live set for this evening. We managed to get quite close in front of the stage and had a good view. Again 30 minutes flew passed when having fun. We were even surprised that there are still people who prefer to make a mosh-pit to pogo rather than to dance on the spot. After Angerfist and Outblast we explored the far parts of this prison. We passed Deathrow where Eastside Connection entertained the crowd to go on to The Isolation. This partially early-stage was claimed by Rotterdam Terror Corps. A live act from the past but still alive and kicking. Unfortunately MC Raw was replaced by Cyriel Brandon. We watched the horny strip / pyro-act and listened to some unknown tracks and only recognized “Rave World”. This act was nice, nothing more nothing less. At the same time DJ Paul started to ‘Play his game’ the last Red Bull Motor Show took place in the Isolation-ward. Several dare-devils drove their motorcycles simultaneously without fear into a rounded cage and made their rounds.
MOH
We started to get hungry, went for a bite and a quick rest before we went back to Deathrow. It would be the first time to behold Anime. This relatively new female dj from Traxtorm Records conquered the world with her latest EP “Detonate” and recently mixed the first Hardcore Italia podcast and Twisted Darkside podcast 005. This lady got us with the first record she put on the decks. In high tempo she proved to be a good dj. “Believe”, Meccane”, “Envy”, “Night of Madness” and “Detonate” got the crowd moving. Though she plays a lot of Italian tracks she’s worth paying a visit to when opportunity’s there.
After Anime it was time for some nice early hardcore. And none better to inject us with the sound of Ruffneck Records than 2 of the best present day performers: Nosferatu and Predator. “Slamming Beats” not to “Induce Trance” but to make a “Cross Over” to “Underground Funk”. Tracks from Lockjaw, Knightvision, Ectomorph and Lunalotic filled us with excitement. It’s always nice to hear those old energetic tracks.
The last 30 minutes of the night we spent in the Psychward with Tymon and Satronica. A last blast with industrial mayhem. We entered during a remix of “Out of Space”. Not knowing it existed but let’s hope it will be played more in the future. We enjoyed the last hard tracks like “Shoot that MF (Negative A Remix)”, “Anarchy in the UK”, “Life Blood Pain Death (Tymon Remix) and “Fuck the System” before we decided to return home. Afterwards we were lucky to leave just in time just before the big exodus, causing a traffic jam on the parking.
Did Master of Hardcore satisfy our expectations….yes it did. We had so much fun, the night was over before we knew it. So many dj’s and acts to see, giving the visitors the luxurious stress position of choice. Always something to see and hear what you prefer, sometimes simultaneously. Besides the class-A line up the organization also created a whole new penitentiary with lighting, LED, lasers and pyrotechnical support. Our compliments.
See you next time.

Also check out the photo’s made by one of our associates.
