[Report] Riverdance Festival
Slowly but surely the weather in The Netherlands is getting better, of course this means that the time has come to visit some festivals. We are true festival people and according to us, nothing beats an outdoor party. Riverdance Festival in Houten (NL) is a good way to start the season. The Gods of weather were in a pleasant mood so around 13:00pm we took off by shuttle bus to the festival ground with high expectations. After a bus trip that reminded us of travelling through India, we were dropped off near the entrance. The festival ground lays at the dam of a river, which added something special to the location. After a brief body search, we arrived at the small and intimate set festival. We got ourselves the necessary drinking coins and a bus ticket back before we finally kicked off the party.
It was already nicely crowded at the main stage but because we love the harder styles, we decided to visit the Hardstyle stage. Here the Psyko Punkz had just started their set and the place was getting busier. In the back people could sit at the water and some visitors even decided the weather was nice enough to take a swim. However, wandering around in wet clothes all day isn't exactly an option for me. On the river, some spectators in boats dropped anchor so they could still enjoy a bit of music. Meanwhile the Psyko Punkz put down a nice set with tracks like “Psyko Soldier” and “Pull your Strings”.
During a festival it's always nice to just walk around a bit and eat something. There was a large variety of food to choose from, it was set up very well for a relatively small event. There also was a ferris wheel, in which we took a ride to get a perfect overview of the whole event. After that, we enjoyed the final sounds of The Visions' set before the next artist got ready to climb the wheels of steel.
The Belgian Coone, who has just released his new album, presented many of his new tracks to the Riverdance crowd. His set contained his latest hits like "Traveling" and "Audio Attack" but also some of his older work like "Million Miles". It was a nice mix of new and old. One thing is for sure: his new album gets a lot of positive feedback from the general public, the people went crazy. The next act was no other than Brennan Heart. This man knew how to keep the people going. With tracks like “Just as Easy”, “Wake you up” and “To the Top”, what else did you expect?
B-Front is guaranteed for some serious pounding and we really looked forward to his set. With tracks like “Inner Creativity”, “Everything Starts” and “Magic” he put out an excellent performance once again. Everybody was jumping up and down so hard, the festival ground turned into a tundra of sand and dust. Since we still had to make a long journey home, after B-Fronts' set it was time for us to go home. Unfortunately for us, because we would have liked it to enjoy the festival a bit longer. Next year we'll certainly return to Riverdance Festival. The great atmosphere, the awesome artists and the nice weather made this festival a success. Big thumbs up to the organization and see you next year!
