Accelarator and Lunatic - Crossfire/Lost (Megarave Records/MRV136)

Hey guys, it’s time for my first Hardcore review and I’m very excited about it. The release of which I have the honor to review is Accelarator and Lunatic – Crossfire/Lost These 2 guys are top notch producers so I don’t expect anything else from this than it being awesome. I have to be honest that I’m not that familiar with Megarave Records as I only know some releases, but all of those I know have proven that Megarave has some of the best producers in the Hardcore scene! Accelarator and Lunatic have proven already to be great producers. For this release these two definitely had the same idea, get together and produce two slamming mainstream tracks and I can assure you that they’ve succeeded !

Accelarator and Lunatic – Crossfire

Right from the start there’s something which I like already, the BPM. This track is produced at 175 BPM, in my opinion the best standard tempo for Mainstream tracks. The intro starts off with some decent vocals, but I personally don’t care much about vocals as long as they’re not gay. Straight after the vocals is when the real deal starts, I must say that I got blown away by the kicks in this track. The kicks are huge, great deep pound in it and nice distortion. Aggressive begin of a Mainstream track, what more do you want ! There’s not much more in the intro beside kicks, here and there some vocals and some bells, but that’s exactly what I like, just some heavy aggressive kicks to get you hyped up from the beginning !

Time to cool down during the break! I kind of dislike this break, it’s a tad too long for my likings. They talk about God in the break, don’t ask me why, but God doesn’t belong in a Hardcore track, at least that’s my opinion. I do like the fact that they refer to God as ‘The Man who lives in the clouds’. When the melody buildup starts, they use the same vocals from the intro again, a bit unnecessary to use them that much in this track, plus they are quite long so it takes long before the climax kicks in. The melody is pretty decent, not too complicated. The kicks in the climax are the same as those from the intro so I repeat myself by saying that those kicks are sick.

The outro isn’t too bad, but I don’t pay much attention to outro’s as they usually are quite the same as the intro’s. Not in this case, but it’s not that exciting either.

Accelarator and Lunatic – Lost

My thoughts about this track are the same as Crossfire. The intro is pretty basic, I do like the way the vocals are being built up in it. The vocal-cuts followed by the full sentence is pretty interesting. Before the kicks kick in, there are some vocals followed by a ‘Yeah’ vocal, I personally like it a lot when there’s a sort of short yell right before the kicks. It gets you hyped up for the kicks that are about to slam in. And what about those kicks, they are super huge again. You seriously have to hear them on a big sound system, they are able to cause a cardiac arrest. The deepness and distortion of those kicks is what Hardcore is all about.

The mid-intro ain’t that special, the same wonderful kicks with some additional sounds just to keep you busy at the dancefloor !

The break starts with the same vocals which are in the intro aswell. I honestly approve this break, it’s not too long and it gets right to the point, short vocals immediately followed by the melody buildup. The melody is again pretty simple, but for some reason these simple melodies are close to perfection. They have proven that something simple can be pure win. Right before the climax the same short ‘Yeah’ vocal pops up again which makes the climax twice more exciting. The melody goes well together with the superb kicks which makes the climax part kickass.

The outro is basicly the same as the intro/mid-intro, pretty awesome, but nothing special compared to the intro/mid-intro.

The verdict

I’m surprised by the awesomeness of this release, the main element which I liked the most are the kicks, some of the best mainstream kicks I’ve heard for a while !

I give this release a 85/100.

For me Crossfire may be the best track of 2010! I love the break and melody.
And you're right about the kicks. I always like Accelarator kicks.
