Once in a while, we come across new talented producers within the Dance scene. Moreover, in the Hardstyle scene. In this review, I'll be taking a look into two of the most recent tracks produced by an artist known as Bassfeeder.

Bassfeeder (aka: Bas Voskamp) got his first release in January 2011 on the Italian label: Explosive Records. The EP, "Bassfeeder - The Ultimatum" is a distinct mix between Italian screeches, the Early Hardstyle reverse bass and some funky vocals.

Bassfeeder - The Ultimatum
The intro starts out with some Italian style screeches and has a distinct vocal (I can't quite place where it comes from - it reminds me of a vocal from "Wildstylez - Revenge". Most probably taken out of the same movie). The kick is actually quite rough, with a nice bass sound which is complemented by the screeches. The break sounds quite dark which fits perfectly with the vocals (which contain some pretty profound words, but we all like that, don't we?). The climax isn't too energetic, but it does fit well into the track as a whole. It has a slight Early Hardstyle feeling to it and is well worked out and may do well in the beginning of some rawer hardstyle sets. It gives me a bouncy/jumpy feeling, but I can't see myself fist pumping like a loonatic when this track is dropped at a party.

I'm quite pleased with the screeches, which remain throughout the entire track. It gives the track a rough feeling without it losing it's bounciness.

Bassfeeder - The Third Revelation
The track starts out with some enjoyable vocal editing which is cleverly worked into the beat. Again, The Third Revelation has that distinct Early Hardstyle sound and feeling to it - this track a little more than "The Ultimatum". The part I like about this track is how the reverse bassline is transformed into a more "rougher" bassline. Just like "The Ultimatum", The Third Revelation has a nice breakdown with a dark atmosphere to it. I'm quite sure the vocals are taken out of the Academy Award winning movie "There will be blood" which of course help in giving the track a dark and sinister atmosphere. The climax is a little more energetic than "The Ultimatum", with a nicely distorted kick in which the bass is sometimes transformed into a different sounding kick.

The track has some definite fist pump moments, but I've lost my heart to the screeches in "The Ultimatum".

All in all a great EP with some different sounds than what we're used to in today's releases. You'll be hearing these tracks in a handful of Fear.FM sets during the coming weeks and I'm sure you'll hear them during some parties in the near future.
