The first collaboration of DBSTF and Deepack can be traced to October 2005 when D-Block vs. Tha Bazz Pimpz – Freak On It/Rock Diz Joint saw the light of day. This release fed my interest in hardstyle at an early stage, those melodies in both tracks combined with strong basslines and epic breaks threw a new light on hardstyle in my opinion. That’s why both Deepack and D-Block & S-Te-Fan have taken my interest since then. Yesterday they delivered a solid release again which will be reviewed here.

The Dream Goes On
This track has a cool flavor if you ask me, and the broad aspect of styles put into this track especially make me smile. The first mid part reminds me of the style which was born at the hand of Digital Age, a bit more housey than the usual hardstyle tracks before that. This feeling can be found in the latest collaboration of DBSTF and Isaac too: “In the Air”. For those who are afraid that the whole track will be like this, it won’t, the second mid bangs like hell! A straightforward no-nonsense hardstyle mid with I guess a bit more Deepack influence then the first mid. If that isn’t enough variation already, the break contains the full vocal (which sounds cool) and a decent, original dubstep pattern. The second part of the break builds-up like the usual hardstyle breaks and then the track meets its high: a cool melody together with a smashing bassline! A short piece of dubstep again in the break between the climax and outro mid follows shortly after. The outro mid is almost the same as the second intro mid but that makes it perfect for mixing and again gives a great shot of energy and adrenaline to the dancefloor. To sum up, when you only read this review it looks like a mess of styles, but the producers managed to make all parts feel like a whole experience. That’s what I like the most about this track.

For the non-dubbers, there is a Dubless mix included on this release so you won’t be bothered by the dubstep parts! The first part of the break is cut out at this version and I couldn’t notice any real differences.

We Do Our Thing
I was waiting for this one to be released. I heard DBSTF spin it several times this summer and I really dug the flow back then of the vocals. The mid pounds greatly just like The Dream Goes On together with the vocals and effects. It has a perfect flow and build-up in the mid in my opinion. The break is good, it creates tension towards the climax like it should. The overall atmosphere in this track makes it feel cool, the combination of the carving melody, strong bassline and bold vocals blend to that feeling. Normally I dislike the phrase: “do your thing” but this time Deepack & DBSTF really did it, so for one time I will allow it. DBSTF & Deepack, please keep on doing your thing! This also goes partly for the vocals.

Overall I can say I really enjoyed this release! Both tracks have a unique atmosphere in them and that’s what’s most important for me in music. Despite the usually diverging styles of both participants this release turned out to be a great combination of them.
