DJ Thera vs Geck - O - Help Help

We all know that each music style has certain rules to fit in its specific style or substyle. It doesn't matter if you are listening to hardstyle, trance, techno or even classical or country; each style of music has his own limitations and common grounds in sound. Of course nobody is obligated to comply with those rules, but then you are just making another style of music right?

BUT! There are always musicians who keep on pushing these boundaries, and will always try to make the most out of their particular beloved music style in order to expand the experience in terms of diversity and awesomeness for the listeners. Don't you just love that? Well, I know I do!. Because while we watch the hardstyle scene, the guys at TheraCords are just those typical musicians who are constantly producing tracks that are pushing the limits brutally. A very good example of this is the latest Theracords release "HELP HELP". Produced by DJ Thera and Geck-O. To treat you to a little bit extra, this time they added a third track on this release which they produced together with Wavolizer.

Thera vs. Geck-O - Help Help
I think it's an understatement if I say that Thera and Geck-O both are the front men of Theracords. These guys really like working with each other and not only does this show when they're performing on stage, but you can definitely hear it in their numerous "out-of-the-box" productions. "Help Help", is a typical masterpiece in which they use sounds you won't hear often in 'common' hardstyle tracks. Both guys made their own mix; the Geck-O Hi Tech mix and the "Thera Lo Tech mix"

The Geck-O Hi Tech mix starts off with an funny robotic sounding vocal which reminds me of a monkey in a bad mood. I like the hardtrancey sounds in the first two minutes since they are really easy to digest, and they taste delicous with the deep kicks that are typical from Theracords. The versatility in sounds and breaks keep the run to the climax extremely fresh, and a joy to listen to. Really, after the first 2 and a half minutes I didn't have a clue where this track was going to go. But just after the "bad mood monkey" informed us "we are all going to die" and is screaming for "help", an ear ripping alarm sound leads us to the climax. I love this part of the track! No euphoric melody, no screaming raw noises, just beeping and kicking. Simple but brilliant.

The Thera Low Tech mix, which off course contains the same funny vocal, begins in a totally different way than the first mix of this release. The industrial sounding reversed bass lifts the monotone oldskool sounds to an higher level. I always like how a cool reverse bass keeps up the tempo of an track and this tracks proves exactly that. It also can turn the most simple sounding sounds into an energetic creation. And while after a minute or two our monkey-friend gives us the same warning as in the first mix, the climax part of this track is totally different! The climax kicks in when you least expect it and it will definitely move your eardrums an inch or two. Great raw sounding kicks will blast through your speakers with a cool variation of the oldksool sounds we heard in the first minutes of this track.

As you may have noticed, I really love both mixes. I specifically like how Geck-O and Thera know how to combine different kinds of unique, never-heard-before elements, and still make it sound like a hardstyle track. This is exactly what i mean with pushing the boundaries.

Wavolizer meets DJ Thera & Geck-O - Two and A Half Kings
The third track on this release is produced by the same guys as the first tracks, but this time it's together with Wavolizer. And while this track is maybe less experimental than "Help Help", it really is a track I cannot hear enough. But that's easy , it already gets me the second I hear its incredible reversed bass! Give me some more of those lovely hysterical sounding noises and I really feel like a king! Another great release from the Theracords guys. Can't wait to hear this one at a party, because I swear I will definitely jump some holes into the ground!
