Donkey Rollers - 2012 (FUSION086)
This is the release every single Hardstyle fan has been waiting for. 2012 was announced months ago already as there was an early HQ preview on YouTube. Everyone loved it and everyone was keen on getting it, but it never saw any daylight until now. This release is what the Donkey Rollers stand for, their typical hard style with a new small extra addition to keep it interesting and varied!
This E.P. has got 3 tracks: 2012, Immortal and Chaos.
2012 (Click to buy)
Personally I totally disliked this track the very first time I heard it, but it’s a track that had to grow on me and it certainly did. The intro is pretty typical DR style. The sounds, the simple yet effective structure of the intro and of course the hard DR kicks, all the elements you need for a nice intro! At the break there’s a very short male voice who’s trying to get in touch with God, he wants to know an answer for why the innocent are dead and the guilty alive. He wants punishment for the guilty ones. The vocals are pretty realistic but I don’t know why they should feature in a track. The buildup of the melody is pretty basic, but the melody has a certain darker note in it, which makes it pretty awesome. Straight after the buildup there are those vocals again which will lead us to the climax part, which in this track is some sort of anti-climax at first. I didn’t expect it, but I was well amused by it as it turned out to sound pretty great. The first climax part is pretty short which I personally approve when it’s an anti-climax. Like in most anti-climax tracks there’s a second part, they have chosen to get the melody back in this part, combined with the rough and deep kicks they made sure this climax is kick ass hard. This track might actually destroy the world before 2012 with its power. The outro is exactly the same as the intro so nothing to say about that!
Chaos (Click to buy)
The intro is totally different than what we could expect from the Donkey Rollers. It starts with a sort of violin or something similar, but they pretty quickly start adding some sick industrial sounds to it, which eventually take over and lead us to the intro kicks. The kicks are sick; they have a rough bassline and a deep punch, which are the 2 elements for a really good kick. The mid intro is more than wicked, where as I mostly dislike mid intro’s as they don’t add anything special to it, I really like this one, the sounds they use are just awesome. The kick is slightly different, a harder punch to it to make it even better. This track has been top notch so far! After the mid intro we arrive at the break, it just has some short sounds to give you a preview of what will follow, the melody buildup. The buildup is orgasmic, it is just pure art and typical Donkey Rollers style, and the way they are able to create such huge melodies requires a lot of skill! The buildup is just getting better and better towards the climax as there are kicks all over the place which get you in the mood to go wild and that’s exactly what you’ll do. The melody itself just gives me goosebumps; the kicks are hard as hell like always when the Donkey Rollers are involved. The second climax part is different than the first, the melody is shorter and simpler, but for some reason unknown to mankind it sounds great. The outro isn’t the same as the intro; this gets my seal of approval! It has some industrial sounds again, but in a complete different way.
This is my personal favorite on this release as it has everything it needs to be a massive slamming track.
Immortal (Click to buy)
Again, like Chaos, it has an experimental intro, with some slowed down kicks and some dark sounds going together with it. I like experimental stuff, but I just can’t imagine how you can dance do something like this. Nonetheless it sounds decent. Straightly after the intro we get some vocals, which talk about a ‘Chosen One’ who will be Immortal. The vocals sound rough and creepy, but it works great! The melody buildup is pretty basic in this one though, but when you hear the melody you won’t mind, as the melody itself is at the highest of quality yet again. Right before the climax there is this evil ‘Die’ vocal which prepares you for something rough and scary, exactly what this climax is about. The kicks in this climax part are huge again; they seem to make some of the best and hardest kicks out there in Hardstyle nowadays, which makes the Donkey Rollers the number one in Hardstyle in my opinion. There is a second climax part as well, which is basically the same as the first one so I don’t really have anything to add to this except by saying it’s as awesome as the first one. The outro has got the regular structure with some kicks and additional sounds to end with.
This release is definitely one of the hardest and roughest releases of 2010. It’s the perfect release for Fusion to end the year with, as it has been a very successful year for them!
I definitely recommend you go and buy it, I honestly don’t think you could be disappointed.
