The Frequencerz, not exactly a new name in the Hardstyle scene, but they are relatively new amongst the 'super' labels. These guys are the new kids on the Fusion block and you can already tell they've picked up the "Fusion sound" with their latest release X-Pand. Hard, no frills and did I say hard?

I usually don't tend to make a review for a one track E.P. Well, technically there are two tracks, but one is more or less a radio/iPod edit (Original Edit) which is something that has been done to keep frequent iPod listeners happy by cutting off the unneeded intro and outro, which is basically only used by DJ's.

X-Pand
Let's start off with X-Pand... Oh wait, that's right, it's a one tracker. Ok, well X-Pand! As previously stated, I feel this track has a distinct Fusion Sound. I can't quite put my finger on a unique Frequencerz sound but I'm sure we'll pick up on that as soon as they release more tracks. I really like the distorted sounds they've used, especially the long distorting sound conjoining the intro and mid-intro. The whole track is just filled with ear piercing distorted sounds, which is a good thing.
They've kept the melody quite simple as the emphasis lies more on the kicks and other hard sounds. X-Pand is just a party in itsself, the whole track is just 'Unstoppable' like a freight train. Save us Denzel Washington! Actually, when the break hits it totally reminds me of a B-Front track. The synth, the vocal, the kick it's all nice and evil. I'll have to come back to my quote regarding the melody being simple. Let me put it this way, the melody is simple during the climax where we just want to jump around and get the party started. However, during the break and the build-up, the melody turns into a more melodical piece of work which helps build up some atmosphere before it's all ripped apart by the heavy kicks and dark noises.

For all the Hard/Raw heads out there, this is something to definately buy! If you're more of a float-about person who likes uplifting melodies, relatively soft basslines, giving you a great summer feeling while petting your cat (hey, I just had to throw that in there), then you'll be mildly disappointed, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't purchase this well produced HARDstyle track!
If you're the kind of sadistic person who'd rather grab that poor little kitty(*) by the tail and twirl it around above your head like one of those annoying rattler instruments during a football match, then you'll be pleased to know that this track will arouse those feelings.

I'll pull up to my conclusion and tell you that this is a really great track. Fits perfectly in a Raw/Hard Hardstyle set or just later on in your set. You want to get that subwoofer working and wake it from its siësta? Then just drop this track and feel those kicks ripping through your chest!
This is getting my double armed fist pump with a teeth grinding smile thrown in!

(*) No kitties were hurt during the writing of this article. Nor do I give my thumbs up to such horrific hooliganism. Unless that cat is a spawn of satan trying to scratch your face off in a rabies-rage!

Haha, I enjoyed reading the review as usual.
Track itself I have to hear on a system with subwoofer first before I judge Wink
