Destiny

Destiny is a great party track, just like we are used to from In-Phase. The mid-intro has a nice continuous flow in it with appropriate vocals. These tracks colour In-Phase’s style these days, pumping party tracks, with recognizable In-Phase kicks. Once you are familiar with In-Phase, you will notice these tracks are defined by them, which means they have their own sound! This is very important in my opinion. As stated, the mid bangs in a continuous flow; after the mid-intro a beautiful trance break kicks in. But this time the In-Phase guys decided to create a no-nonsense track and you will notice this when the second part of the break kicks in. The second break contains a simple but hitting and carving synth, building up to a smashing climax, instead of the expected trancey one if you listen to the first part of the break. This works great on the dancefloor, as I noticed at Coone & The Gang where they played it. Eventhough it was early in the evening and the track was unknown to the crowd yet, they seemed to love it!

Dynamics

I really love the mid-intro, a pumping reverse bassline together with a cool melody and synth. The original part here is the ending of the mid with the vocals and ‘softened’ bassline, and then again the same vocals in the break. The break again sounds a tad trancey to me, just like in Destiny. But again their no-nonsense approach kicks in, a banging anti-climax with no real melody, just smashing sounds. After this anti-climax there is another break, which of course differs from the first one, this time in melody, and if I’m right it’s a bit shorter than the first one. The second climax feels different too, but I can’t really put my finger on what the exact difference is. The ending of the second climax is quite original too I think.

To conclude this review, both tracks will work very well on the dancefloor. With this release and their older releases it feels like In-Phase succeeded at creating their own sound without making every track sound the same. This sounds like a paradox but I will explain it. When I compare all their tracks at Dirty Workz they have recognizable mid-intros, basslines and their vocalwork is quite recognizable too I think. But aside from that they tend to create an original track build-up in every single track they make. This makes each track uniquely surprising to listen to. The cool thing is that they don’t just copy other hardstyle build ups, but tend to create their own unique experience.
