Fear.FM Release Database

This time we have reviewed 2 tracks recently released on Fusion Records by Jack of Sound, one of the newest (and definetely talented) artists from the Fusion crew!

A Ghost Story
Like every usual intro, there just are some claps to start the track with, this is how most producers usually start their track so I’m not going to say anything special about it. Then the real deal starts! Jack of Sound chose to have a reversed bass line for the intro, it’s a pretty nice and deep, which any hardstyle lover appreciates. There are vocals from the first kick, they basically tell a small story (a ghost story) to build up some tension in the track and it worked out pretty well. After the intro there’s the break, a small part in which there is a organ. This was a great choice from Jack of Sound, the organ is mostly used to create a creepy atmosphere which fits the track perfectly. The short break ends with an evil laugh and is then followed by the melody buildup. The melody buildup is pretty basic, but the melody itself is dark and in my opinion typical Fusion stuff. That’s what this track is all about, dark and made to give an element of fear to the lister experience, so you can already guess what sort of kicks he has used. The hard and deep kicks go well together with the melody which results in an unbelievably great climax. Unlike most tracks produced nowadays, the outro isn’t the same as the intro! It doesn’t have the reversed bass anymore, but some powerful kicks instead, together with a nice synth. It is a fantastic way to end the track.

You’re Next
There are 3 mixes of this track, but I will only review the Original Mix.

As I said before, most tracks start with some claps, and this track is no different. After the intro, the break comes in, a pretty long section of the track in which a man sings about how someone will die, it’s a pretty ‘violent’ vocal part as the man describes what will happen to the person who’ll die next. It's extremely atmospherical. Now it’s time for the melody. I bet most people would predict something dark, and for those who made that prediction, were correct. It has that typical older Fusion influence which always results in something good. The kicks are a bit softer than in ‘A Ghost Story’, but are still pretty powerful. There’s a sort of tension buildup for the outro, a screechy sound introduces it, and a nice combination of some low synths and the high screechy sounds make this outro hard and very interesting. In my opinion it’s a good thing if the intro and outro aren't the same, it makes the track unique and gives you a nice surprise!

To summarise, I really like this release. It's a great debut for him on the Fusion label and I suspect great things from him in the near future!

No comment on the outro of You're Next.
IMO 1 of the sickest outro's ever, and a damn shame that you do not mention it.

On-topic: Great release, really awesome!

I know it's a sick outro, but that's a personal opinion and I'm not putting in too many objective things in it, had lots of bad reactions about me praising the tracks/producers.

K-Cin: You should not really care about what people say Happy Just write what you think. I'm sure 90% of readers have their own thoughts about a track - so don't feel responsible for the 10% of people who don't know how to think for themselves.

in any case.. nice review Happy

funny that you say the lyrics are brutal (in You're Next)... coz it's actually from a childrens-song: the hearse song.

Well both tracks are sick and the review was well written too Shiny
