State Of Matter
State of Matter by definitely stood out in a good way. It’s so full of adrenaline by constantly crossing the line between raw and euphoric. It contains an original break and decent melody. The vocals sound biblical to me, which always gives a good atmosphere to hardstyle if it’s done properly and in this case it has done. The build-up especially, with two breaks and a longer vocal in the second/middle breaks, takes this track to another level and makes it better on a whole. The second melody is a tad more impressive than the first one in my opinion, it may not be a ‘super melody’, but it fits perfectly in the atmosphere Juized has managed to create.
Secrecy
Secrecy has a great mid-intro, pumping reversed bass with a decent stabbing rhythm via the synth. This continues until another, more straightforward, bass line kicks in. The second part of the mid-intro is even better, it reminds me a bit of the mid by Ivan Carsten – Amazing Combination (Original Mix), although that one is a bit more chaotic. The break appears, a moment where the most perfect fitting and philosophical vocal kicks in with a story about secrecy. The melody in the first climax is great and matches that of the quality shown in this EPs other track, State of Matter. What surprised me the most about this track is the big difference between the first and second climax, while it still supplies the correct kick required to hold the track together. This difference is big, but it suits the track and its atmosphere. The mid-outro is an extended version of the closing seconds of the mid-intro, ending the track on a high.
To conclude this review, I would say that Juized has proven his talent immensely. My assumptions of his goals were to bring an atmosphere to his productions, which he has. Secrecy spoke to me the most, with its vocals and melody. Overall these tracks are well produced and decently mixed down which usually isn’t the case with a debut release. They will certainly work well on the dance floor, and that’s what it’s all about in the end.
