The two crazy duo's from "down unda" Toneshifterz (Fusion) and Bioweapon (Scantraxx) have joined forces for the latest and extremely dark/raw release on Fusion Records - Dead of the Night / Fearful Symmetry.
Both duo's have presented us with very uplifting and euphoric tracks in the past, but this time, they've put on their evil masks and released some heavy kicks, raw screeches and dark and scarey noises upon us.

Dead of the Night
The two duo's have clearly been watching some horror movies, or may have just been scared out of their pants by their move to The Netherlands. Either way, something has definitely given them some inspiration for this incarnation of death itself.
The vocal, which isn't the typical american vocal (it's more flat and Brittish) fits perfectly into the atmosphere of the track, chilling our hearts with a dark poem, warning us that even if we believe in God and say our prayers, we could still be turned into fierce warewolves... in the dead of the night! A small little secret, the vocal (or at least the "quote") has been taken from the movie: The Wolf Man.

The sound effects throughout the track, wolves howling and fierce roars rising up out of the darkness, have been well placed! They've created a definite atmosphere that doesn't want to release its dark and tight grip on you. The kicks are amazingly dark and rough. A nice hard punch with a rolling, crunchy bass sure has hell makes me want to get my fist pump action going!

It gives me the feeling of being in the middle of a Twilight scene, surrounded by sexy vampires with great hair and muscular guys that can transform into awesome CGI warewolves... "Which one should I choose!?" *cries for 2 hours straight*.
Ok, no... that's NOT how I feel. Instead, The Bioshifterz have swept me away into a dark land, in the middle of an eery and evil forest. They've dropped me in the middle of nowhere with nothing but a flask of water, a lighter and a knife (well, it's actually a spoon, but those crazy Australians don't know the difference. You know, with them wrestling crocs, snakes and the odd kangaroo, they like to challenge themselves by fighting with spoons. Go figure).

So, there I am, in the middle of a dark forest. Dark and leafless trees stare down at me, I can swear they have eyes and are watching my every move.
Somewhere behind me in the pitch black, a voice is whispering out to me, telling me I need to watch myself (you know, because I'm pure at heart and all that), warning me of the perils ahead and the evil lurking around every dark corner and under every dark stone.
Suddenly, rocks and dirt start to move around, as if a stempede is drawing closer, raging toward me but still miles away. Trees start to sway and crack as the roaring beneath my feet becomes more intense. Somewhere ahead of me, wolves are howling and a monsterous roar fills the air. As I stand there, knife... euh.. spoon in hand and luminating the darkness around me with a lighter (which is now becoming extremely hot in my hands), I lose my breath as I start to hear the dead trees behind me snapping and falling down as something heavy and rough is raging on towards me through the dense mist.
Then it hits me... a wall of fierce kicks knocks me off my feet. As I stand up to catch my breath, dust off my dirty pants and pick up my spoon, the kicks have surrounded me and are blasting away. Dust clouds pick up and debris is flying everywhere as I surrender to the darkness, I pick up my shoulders in a typical "Oh, what the hell!" manner and fistpump my fears away! What a joy to be partying in such horrific surroundings!

What a terribly awesome track. So dark, so fierce, so heavy! These guys have really shown us all that they're not just capable of fun, dance-floor filling, feel good, euphoric tracks. Oh no! They've shown us that they can produce (extremely) raw tracks and have definitely shown us that they're a force never to be reckoned with. You know what they say, never mess with an Aussie!

Fearful Symmetry
Fearful Symmetry is another horrifically dark and awesome track from the 4 Aussies. We're blasted off our feet by a deep and powerful reverse bass which is complemented by some awesome screeches!
Along comes another awesome vocal! What a voice and a nice dark effect thrown in to give the vocal something unique! For anyone wondering, the text is taken from a great poem by Willam Blake - The Tiger.

Slowly but surely, the filtered kicks build up to yet another amazing kick. They're so clean and so raw and very well produced. Because Fearful Symmetry has been brought to life to just rock the place with brutal kicks and ear piercing screeches, there is no need for a melody (even a dark one), this track is purely to get those muscles moving, teeth grinding and sweat drenching your clothes!
The main kick has an underlying (extra) filtered distortion thrown in to give the kick something different and it really does sound cool. The kick stays the same, but the underlying distortion waxes and wanes throughout the bars to really give the kick another dimension. Eventually it breaks off to form a rythmic beat underneath the kick which is really well done.

I can't really say much about Fearful Symmetry apart from the following:
Fearful Symmetry is a very well produced track. Every aspect of it sounds clean (soundwise). The overall atmosphere is dark and brutal, the kicks are amazing and I love them. The buildup is simplistic. By that I mean, there is no melody for a small hands up moment, or to sing a long to like a choir of evil demons.
It's just straight forward, hard and fierce fist pumping from start to finish!

To conclude, the four Australians have given us many amazing tracks throughout the passed few years, filled with chillingly beautiful melodies and hands up moments. Now, these guys have taken a detour on their route to try something different. Let me tell you! They've done an extremely awesome job with both tracks and I already love them (the tracks of course), to bits!
If you want some heavy, pounding fun, or want to surprise your listeners with some brutally raw tracks... then you really need both of these in your Hardstyle collection. This is the definition of hard!

A very picturesque review Ryan Shiny You should consider writing short stories!
I very much concur with the verdict on "Dead of the Night". Everything fits together in this track. I particularly like the samples they included (e.g. the howling of the wolves) and the fierce, rattling kick. "Fearful Symmetry" is a good track, as well, but it doesn't come anywhere near to the A-side.
