Wow, where do I start? Well, Huh? (yes, that's the track name, and you'll find out why) is the 4th release on the new Digital:Age label and I've got to say this is quite a special release. I'm not even sure I know where to place it. It has all elements of Hardstyle, but sounds totally different. A definite Huh? moment!

We're definitely used to hearing epic melodic tracks flow out of Wildstylez' studio, but it seems he has taken a large step out of the box to produce this whopper.
From pretty much the first second, we're presented with a pretty clean and deep kick which is being attacked by an assload of funky and even freaky sounds. The overall mixture of both kick and funky sounds make the flow a little more relaxed, I guess you could say that you can float around on this track (because in my opinion, it's not a track to do a lot of fist pumping to), but instead of floating around on trancy melodies, you do so with the help of psychedelic sounds which certainly is a bit trippy on its own.

Although the track is special, different and quite out of the box (which is what Digital:Age stands for, right?) I wouldn't like to hear these types of tracks for a whole hour or so. It's much like the dubstyle hype. Although it sounds funky and cool for the few times you do hear it, you just hope it stays at that. But without going off on a wild rant about this and that, let's just focus on the track as a work of art. Because that's what it is.

You have to take a good step back, place your hand on your chin like a wise philosopher and just breath out a deep "hmmmmmmmm" while stroking your long grey beard, or just rub that soft baby skin chin of yours. Think about it from an artists point of view. What was going on in Joram's head when he decided to sit in the studio one day and just put together a track filled with funky sounds that just wants to make you go "Huh?".
Taking that leap of faith and trying something new, with hardly any melody or hands up moments, or even a good climax to just thrash your fists around to certainly is taking things a step further. After the more than confusing vocal, we're taken to the circus as the break rolls up. All I can see in my imagination is a handful of trippy clowns on a tightrope with their big clumsy shoes and tiny umbrella's while forcing a smile.
Then just when you think "Oh, there's that melody... good ol' Wildstylez... wha...wait a minute". Yep, you guessed it, the melody disappears as fast as it came and along come those wierd little clowns again with tiny umbrella's fearfully walking that tightrope with their oversized shoes.

Huh? is really worth the buy and absolutely deserves a place in your CD collection and I'm very sure that when you drop this track at a gig (if you're a DJ) then you'll surely cause some confusion, but will provide the crowd with something funky, something different, something new.
Although Huh? doesn't really have the drive to really give the party that extra "oomph" it's a nice track to drop at the beginning of a set or somewhere in the middle to catch your party people off guard and hit them with the funk! More often than not, you'll be able to see the DJ giggling away behind his turntables as everyone looks up in confusion, lift their shoulders and scream in unison: "HUH?".

I'd really like to hear your thoughts on this track in the comment section, because of course, this review is purely my personal opinion.

Huh? reminds me of some of the tracks by Wolfgang Gartner. Chaotic elements, lots of weird sounds that seemingly have been recorded in a factory that produces God-knows-what. Funky track, but I like it oh so much!
