The beautiful sunny summer day faced the brutal musical hardcore violence that attracted thousands of supporters. News: Re:set - 7th of April 2012

After a long wait, Art of Dance have finally announced the line-up for the next edition of Re:set in North Sea Venue, Zaadam. As per the previous edition close to the end of 2011, the main room will focus on the best hardstyle artists conquering the scene at the moment and the second area will be all about early hardstyle. The third area will see the return of Future Re:set!

Do you want to play at Re:set?
One thing about the Future Re:set stage is that artist who perform there tend to get noticed very quickly! This was the case for Chain Reaction, who will be judging the demos for this particular competition. He performed a few years ago and began making his mark on the hard dance scene...

Chain Reaction:�‘Besides making music, you need a platform on which you can present yourself as an artist. The Future Room of Re:set gave me that chance and proved to be a huge step in my climb up the ladder that is the hard dance scene, giving me the opputunity to be where I am today. It’s really cool that I can contribute. If there is any artist out there who knows what it’s like to stand there and how important it is for your career, it’s me!’

Below you can find the requirements for this contest:
- Make a mix of 30 minutes maximum.
- Register on Soundcloud and become a member of the official Re:set DJ contest group
- Upload your set, a tracklist, a description in which you introduce yourself and give Chain Reaction a reason to pick you as the winner!
- Upload the set with the following name: – Re:set DJ Contest 7-4-2012

Please note the deadline is March 26th!

From the participants, 5 entries will be chosen to show their skills in the Future Re:set Room on April 7th and the winners will be announced on the 2nd of April!

News: The Dark Menace Show

The Dark Menace Show is an hour-long musical spectacle focusing on the darker side of hardstyle. If you are looking to listen to the very roughest tracks in this ever-growing genre, look no further. For many years, hardstyle has seen melodic and euphoric tracks dominate the dancefloors. There is nothing wrong with that, but The Dark Menace Show wants to throw some more variety into the mix with their less-than mainstream sound.

Nuracore and Intervention, two upcoming artists with a huge passion for hardstyle, host the show. Their goal is to create a unique hour that gives artists a chance to play a little darker than they usually would, providing you with the chance to see that other side of them. By inviting well-known hardstyle DJs and producers for guest performances, The Dark Menace Show has grown in success since its first broadcast in August 2011. Upcoming DJs have supported artists such as Zentiments, Neilio & Koldsa and with many more to come including; Geck-o, Kevin Kaos, Dailucia and Deetox, there is no doubt things are going to get better!

The show is broadcast on Fear.FM Harder every Wednesday @ 21:00 (GMT +1) so make sure you tune in! Don’t live in Europe? No problem. The show is rebroadcast every Saturday morning at 08:00 (GMT +1).

DiabLik�is just fresh from starting his brand new label RAVEME and already it looks like its going to be a massive success and a firm favourite with Gearbox. 3 massive releases are due out already, firstly his brand new track with Oyeabu titled 'Rave Me' which is a perfect blend of there tech and dub mixed vibe that they fuse together so well, secondly a release from Lee Mac and a banging remix from David Rust and then a wonder hit from Danny V that tests the boundaries of Danny's productions skills; a test which he passes with flying colours as well. This is set to be a big year for DiabLik, so watch out for his new label.�

Thilo & Evanti�are true pioneers of the hard dance music scene. Their label Anologue is Dead produced some of the best music of 2011 and it is rated as the best label around here at Gearbox. Luckily enough, Gearbox has managed to coax these legends to begin a monthly radio podcast to showcase all their latest productions, this new podcast is called 'Infected'�

Paul Gallagher�has just come into the limelight in the trance scene after he released some magnificent tracks last year on labels such as Digitally Infected White. His newest release 'Borderline' is a fantastic new tune that is full of class and an excellent deep and catchy bass line throughout the track. This man from Inverness is set to have an exciting 2012 and Gearbox is here to help him on his way.�

Brian Hayes�then ends the show with a fantastic pumping trance mix with a mass of mash ups, instantly recognisable vocals, classics and forgotten gems. Brian has been a long term fan of Gearbox and his support throughout the years is to be paid in an hour to show case his talent for picking Grade A's tracklists to get people pumping their fists.

News: The Magic Show - Week 72

Next Sunday, The Magic Show will end your week with a fantastic three hour show of �“only the best hardstyle beats”. Two residents will perform along side a special guest from Fusion Records. Kodex, Mind.Illusion and The Pitcher will all be on form to provide you with a show to remember!

Kodex, an Austrian artist signed to Dutch Master Works, will be starting the show with a unique set. This resident is always happy to play a variety of tracks and support both well-established and upcoming producers. You can expect a euphoric performance from Kodex this week and one that shouldn’t be missed.

The second artist on this weeks show is The Pitcher. As one of Fusion Records’ most loved artists, The Pitcher’s reputation in the hard dance scene is stronger than ever. By using his unique sound to stand out from others, the crowd always find themselves immersed in each of his performances. As always, it will be an incredible and unpredictable set from The Pitcher!

After The Pitcher will be The Magic Show’s second resident of the week, Mind.Illusion. In this weeks 2Dangerous show, they have invited a guy that was drawn to music and instruments at a very young age. When he was 10 years old he started with piano and keyboard lessons, at that moment it became clear that music was his passion!

In the year 2005 he came in contact with hardstyle music and he immediately fell in love with this harder style. It didn’t take long before he started to produce his own tracks which resulted in his first release in 2008. After a few releases he switched to Dirty Workz, where he got the opportunity to produce the Bassleader Anthem of 2010.

News: Talent group Atmozfears signs to Scantraxx Recordz

Scantraxx Recordz announces they signed Atmozfears. This act consisting of three young music addicts, named Kevin Keiser (Canada), Michael Jessen (Holland) and Tim van de Stadt (Holland). �

These three talents decided to form Atmozfears back in 2008. Two years later they already performed twice at the purple stage at Defqon.1 Festival in Holland. There, the audience got introduced to the typical songs of Atmozfears. Those are characterized by a wide variety of different sounds.

These three talented producers are now ready for the next step. They’ve worked hard the last couple of years and created a recognizable ‘Atmozfears’ sound. Their first release is a 2 tracker, which will be available 5^th�of March 2012 world wide.�The previews are live at the Scantraxx YouTube channel. Partyreport: [Report] Icon: Frantic Freak II

If there’s one early hardcore DJ whose fan base is renowned for its dedication, it must be Frantic Freak. With gigs all over Holland, his adherence to Cyndium and its Pandemonium prize pig has surely paid off. The highlight of his career was his own event, entitled Icon (a name previously used for a hardstyle showcase) last summer. A unique event, as – contrary to most so-called dj concerts – he would perform for 7 hours straight at P60 in Amstelveen.

But not so unique that a follow-up was out of the question. Given the huge, enthusiastic reactions after the first “freak show”, Cyndium approached its main man for another edition, in which he could play all the records he never got around to playing last time. So it was, that we were given another chance to participate in this night of unknown early hardcore. After picking up a few mates at the Dancefair in Utrecht, we were on our way with no less than 8 party people from the south. Even though we arrived right on time as planned, there was already a queue at the door. Obviously, no one wanted to miss a single minute or track. After passing the ticket scanner and security, we had to climb some stairs to get to the chill-out or whatever it was. There was a merchandise stand by 100% Hardcore, a bar and some couches. To the left were a few steps leading towards the cloakroom, toilets (free!) and a food corner.�

Tokens were 2.20 € a piece but the real plus side was the fact they served Palm and Leffe, some of the finer (and stronger) Belgian beers. Too bad yours truly was the designated driver, but good to know for future ventures. Plus, we weren’t feeling too good anyway so best to avoid this kind of stuff. Maybe our queasiness was partly responsible for the fact we couldn’t really get into the groove. Anyway, Niek aka Frantic Freak started the show by playing some “happy hardcore”-ish tracks such as “Burning Love” and “You Belong To Me”.

One of our personal highs was hearing “Bad Boy Dj”, in the old and faster Promo-style of the 90’s. The first notes of “Kill Tha Noise” were mixed in, but somehow this was a weak version and the same could be said for Party Animals’ “Used And Abused” later on. Too bad, but no need to worry as “Droppin Bombs” upped the ante pretty quickly. The sound was alright, but not consistent. Considering we spent most of the night in front of the stage, this probably wasn’t the best sign for the rest of the club.�

Unfortunately, we completely forgot to take a look at the balcony. Probably caused by the acceleration brought on by “Braindead” and “James Daltan – Wanna Get High”, leading up to a whole series of old Destroyer tracks, such as “Oxygen”. It must have been around 2.00 am that the early terror part of the night was initiated. Furthermore, one could enjoy “TOPDROP – Achtung”, “Rob Gee - Gabber Up Your Ass”, “3 Steps Ahead – I’m A HCMF”, “Christ Of Noise – Intruders Are Coming” and “Geoff Da Chef – Enter Dimension”.

No speech this time, but the organization did allow Frantic Freak to continue for almost half an hour beyond closing time. Of course, we forget to mention hundreds of records in this report, but we simply can’t name any other titles. This is probably the best indication that the stories about this artist and his event are true: no hit parade, no standard “commercial” early hardcore but finally someone who’s not afraid to play less-known tracks and really lets you discover music! If only we’d felt less sick, we probably would’ve had an even better time.

As usual there is a firm mix of dance, urban, house, dubstep, DnB and as the tradition wants: the harder styles. The harder stages this year will again be hosted by Bass Events, and that in 3 areas this year! In total, Summerfestival will count 8 stages. New names will be announced in the coming weeks.

The ticket sale of both normal and VIP tickets has started on the official website�www.summerfestival.be. In a few weeks, the ticket sale will also start in all Free Record Shops. For a regular ticket you only pay €39 (excl. fee); the VIP tickets will cost €50 (excl. fee). On top of that, Summerfestival has launched an early bird action: the first 500 buyers of a normal ticket will receive a free upgrade to a VIP ticket. This action is only online.

For the fourth time in a row, Freshtival will take place at the recreational area Rutbeek in Enschede. What started in 2009 as a dance-festival, quickly grew into a festival full of music and experience. A small preview of 2012 shows you that you can follow different workshops, walk out the theater tent with a big smile, sing along in the karaoke caravan, go bashing hard in the PartyDressExpress, go very soft in the Silent Disco, or crawl yourself inside the world's smallest disco. On Sunday the 27th of may, everything will come true.

The first mix of the night is from�PULSERZ., a young and upcoming French artist. This talented young artist has released on labels such as Bionic Digital, Invaders Records and 4dots, which is a sub label for Dutch Master Works. This is an artist who is really make a big name for himself in the scene, so watch out for this guy in the future.�

Then comes the new wepisode of Hard Wpierdol, where�COARSECTION�invites�SASHA-F. Sasha F is a huge name within the industry and has gained a huge following to his dark and eclectic sound over the years. Recently he started a new project called RAW MANNERS and under this alias he produced the Gearbox Anthem with X-Pander and we are lucky enough to hear the very first playing of the Coarsection and Regain remix of the track in tonights episode.�

Creators Project�then amaze us with another outstanding hour of the best of underground, the best of the older stuff, the best of the main stream and the best of mixing in general. These two lads have never failed to impress us at the Gearbox team as they continue to produce the highest quality mixes there is going.

closing the show tonight are�RAY DESTINO & MAYER�who are no strangers to radio mixes as they proiduce mixes for many polish radio shows and are residents of Fear.fm. This week The 2Dangerous Crew will welcome a duo which made a lightning career into the world of hardstyle after their first release on the infamous Straight On Records label. Quickly moving to the Hardcopy imprint of Deepack they soon found themselves playing on almost every mainstage thought possible.

Their fast rise to fame and relatively young age gives them advantages they both know how to use; an energetic style of performing you don't see too often and a first rate pick of tracks from the newest talents around.

News: The Magic Show - Week 71

This week The Magic Show presents three spectacular hours of hardstyle. Two residents and one guest performance will turn your Monday from one to be forgotten into one to be remembered. For the second show of February, Koldsa and Radical Redemption will both accompany Titan in the studio!

To begin, Koldsa will use his unique qualities behind the decks to mix an incredible set. Always one to vary his tracklists, Koldsa is able to work his performances into a blend of energetic melodies and powerful kicks. No doubt the perfect way to kick off a show that will most likely turn a bit harder as the hours go by.

Fusion Records artist Titan will be performing after Koldsa. Titan has been performing a lot since his last visit and each time the crowd have responded with great enthusiasm. His hard productions and DJ sets tend to lean towards the more dark and rough side of hardstyle, which is where they work best. You don’t want to miss this performance!

Closing The Magic Show will be Radical Redemption. This particular resident is the subject of many conversations these days due to the recent and very successful release of his new album entitled “Annihilate”. Radical Redemption always delivers one of the hardest sets possible, and there is no other artist able to end The Magic Show the way he can.

Review: Waverider & Audiofreq - TMU

It appears that Waverider and Audiofreq have decided to team up in the studio resulting in a fantastic collaboration. After his release of “Be As One”, Waverider really caught my attention and Audiofreq certainly didn’t float under the radar with “Tear U Down”. Their styles seem to match very well as displayed in this upcoming release.

From the very start, you are given a short time to mix with a basic intro. Following that you get the first listen to one of the most important elements in the track, the vocals. After a build up with said vocals, the words “Turn Me Up” spin off and combine with a fantastic bassline. Less than a minute later, another breakdown appears and the vocals return with a few background synths. The second mid-intro incorporates a funky feel into the track. It works well and is a great way to build up to the melody breakdown. The melody starts fading in with the vocals and together they make for an incredibly euphoric atmosphere. The climax consists of three main elements, the pitching bassline, the melody and a cool afterbeat lead. All of those ingredients blend together incredibly well, especially that afterbeat lead pitching together with the bassline in subtle variations. The second climax goes a bit higher in tone and rounds off this track perfectly. Moving towards the end of the track, you can hear those funky mid-intro sounds again.

As said before, this collaboration turned out fantastic and I predict that it will be supported by numerous DJs. On a whole, the track has a lot of loveable attributes; whether that be the euphoric sensation beaming from the climax, the catchy vocals or those fresh sounds in the mid-intro and outro. It’s certainly a release that will be well received on the dance floor!

Review: TNT aka Technboy 'N' Tuneboy - Bullets

TNT is back once again with a refreshing new track entitled "Bullets". Both Technoboy and Tuneboy haven't been relaxing much these days. Social networks and a lot of new tracks prove that to be true!

The intro for this track builds up as it usually would and the bassline kicks in quite fast after�eight bars, then after sixteen the first breakdown appears. This�breakdown builds up to the mid-intro with the vocals repeating “Bam, a fucking�bullet!” while combining them with a pounding bassline. After that�first mid-intro, the main breakdown of the track begins. It contains the full-length vocals, sampled from a movie scene in ”My Cousin�Vinny”, where Marisa Tomei talks to her fianc� (Joe Pesci) about hunting. Following the vocals is a very fitting melody. Why�fitting? From my point of view, this track tries to portray a bit of a badass�feeling, which can also be found in earlier releases from either�Technoboy or Tuneboy. So this melody has been tweaked to support that feeling. In this�track, the bassdrums pitch simultaneously to support the�melody. Another cool detail is the way the second climax breakdown emerges. I�thought the main part was done, but that same vocal kicks in again: “Bam, a fucking bullet rips off part of your head. Your brains are laying�on the ground in bloody little pieces!” The second climax contains a�rearranged melody and ends the main section of this track a good way. When the main�part is done, the mid-outro follows through quite fast to keep the flow going.�It is the same as the mid-intro, a bassline coupled with the vocals.�As we move towards the end of the track, several elements dissolve. This ensures mixing won’t�be a problem, if anything you could be quite creative with it.

Overall, this track brings a badass attitude with many greatly combined�elements. The vocals are very catchy and will probably be lip-synced a�lot during events. The melody is perfect for this track and not too�complex. To conclude, a great party track!

News: Anagenetic meets "Heart for Hardstyle" Radioshow

We are approaching the 2nd Monday of February 2012, the day a new episode of "Heart for Hardstyle” is set to broadcast! Last week, you were listening to the Distractor birthday show with Deepack as an extra guest. This week "Heart for Hard" and "Fear.FM" have something special in store. You can listen Monday, February 13th, to a 2-hour broadcast from 8PM till 10PM (GMT +1), where special guest "Anagenetic" will take her place behind the turntables.

This time, the stunning "Anna" known as "Anagenetic" will show her skills behind the decks. You may know Anagenetic from "Most Wanted DJ agency" and her latest release: "Maximum EP". In addition she has performed at festivals such as: "Dominator", "Last World Festival" and more recently at "Inception: The Roman Empire". Performing with Anagenetic will be resident "Fatal inc", who will play an additional hour. This weekend Fear.FM will be attending Dancefair in the Jaarbeurshallen in Utrecht (NL). This two-day event is all about educating yourself on the latest production techniques, DJ gear and the music business in general. Besides the many workshops and seminars, there will be exhibitions where labels, hardware and software companies and radio stations will present themselves. Of course Fear.FM will participate on this exhibition so if you're attending as well, make sure you to come check out the Fear.FM stand.

Besides the stand, Fear.FM will also do a 2x10 hour live broadcast from Dancefair. This broadcast will be hosted by The 2Dangerous Show. News: Reng Deng Deng - Reflected Alter Ego

On the 10th of March, Cyndium will start another chapter in the life of Reng Deng Deng. The famous hardcore concept will change to another location!�Since the closing of the 'Waerdse Tempel' in Heerhugowaard, Cyndium had to find another location worthy of Reng Deng Deng. Where the organiser and their visitors still feel at home. Cyndium didn't have to�think about it for too long: the P3 in Purmerend!

For this 'first' edition they have chosen an applying theme: Reflected Alter Ego.
The P3 has the perfect image for an event like Reng Deng Deng with their dark radiation. Characteristic acts of RDD such as The Stiltwalker and dancers will fit perfectly with the decoration, show elements and vibe of the location.

For the visitors: Away with that daily routine! Show your 'inner reflection' and together with Cyndium you can make the perfect start to this new Reng Deng Deng chapter come true!

The P3 also offers a lot of capabilities: there are 3 good rooms, where all hardcore genres will be fully represented, so that means no small second rooms! As usual, RDD will have the first room representing the best mainstream hardcore. Room 2 will be feature Frenchcore and Room 3 will be dedicated to Early Hardcore. This area will start at 00:00.

Next to all of that, is the P3 located on a perfect location, close to the old center of Purmerend. P3 is easily available via�public transport�throught the whole night. The bus stop towards Amsterdam CS is just in front of the P3. The train station is only on 5 minutes walking distance, To get the train to Purmerend you should take the train from Amsterdam CS to Zaandam and then take the train to Purmerend.
